My goodness, I haven't shared any recent work in a little while! Well, I think I am making up for that today. Last year, the lovely John and Tess came to me asking for help with their wedding invitations: they was after a whimsical, handmade look with a watercolour painted effect. Lots of colour mixing with white and hand lettering were in order. I hand lettered John and Tess' names and drew little flower motifs which were used on their invitations and matching RSVP and information slip. I used a simple sans serif font alongside the hand illustrated elements to keep the look clean and not too busy. All the invitation pieces were wrapped up in a paper doily before being posted off.
Since many of their guests were travelling quite some distance to be at their wedding, John and Tess wanted to give them more information about how to get there, accommodation and other local services. Therefore I created a little wedding website using my old friend Blogger, which allowed them to put in whatever text and images they wished. To go along with the website, I illustrated a little map of the area where their wedding was to be held. You can visit their wedding website here.
For the wedding day, I created some little cards that were used throughout the wedding reception, using my own hand lettering and the flower motifs to keep the look in line with the rest of the paper goods.
